4 ways to make your yard more kid-friendly

With all the technology available for children today, it can be difficult to get them to play go outside. By creating a yard that is inviting and fun you may be more likely to encourage your kids to get outdoors and play. Pantano Power Equipment has outlined four ideas for how to make your yard more kid-friendly.

1. Keep it clean
No one wants to spend time in a yard that is overgrown and messy. Untended lawns are not only unsightly, but they can present a danger to children, as wildlife or harmful garbage may be hidden in the brush. Use your Husqvarna lawn mower to keep the grass neat and trim and other Husqvarna tools to keep your landscaping in line and create a tidy space that all can enjoy.

2. Add play things
For households with younger children, play equipment is an excellent way to make your lawn the place to be. Elements like sandboxes and swing sets are traditionally fun, but don't feel confined to stick to the norm. Add lawn games like a beanbag toss or an outdoors checkers board to shake things up a little.

A sandbox gives kids the chance to express their creativity outdoors.A sandbox gives kids the chance to express their creativity outdoors.

3. Get creative
This is your opportunity to have some fun with your yard. Don't feel like you have to make the sandbox a normal, wooden square. Feel free to make it look like a pirate ship or a castle wall. This will inspire your kids' imaginations and add an extra dash of creativity to the yard. You can also set up a game of jumbo lawn chess or install an in-ground trampoline that will have your neighbors talking.

4. Make it a hangout spot
Families with older children may want to focus on turning the yard into a space to hang out. Incorporate creative seating to encourage teens and young adults to spend their time outdoors. Multi-person hammocks and swinging chairs are perfect for this. Design elements like a fire pit and outdoor projector for lawn movies are also great for encouraging older children to get outside.

They don't call it the great outdoors for no reason. If you put in the time and effort to make your yard more kid-friendly, you may just encourage the youngsters in your family to put down their devices and step into nature for a few hours. Follow Pantano Power Equipment's suggestions above if you are looking for a good starting point.
